Return & Other New Works by Sharon Lyn Stackpole at The Purple Moon

Return and Other New Works by Sharon Lyn Stackpole will be opening at The Purple Moon during the June 26th ArtWalk and Festivall weekend in Downtown Charleston.

“Art is just another form of communication and creativity is nothing more than a different way of looking at the world,” says Sharon Lyn Stackpole, a West Virginia artist whose work is in private collections statewide, nationally and internationally.

Her art often incorporates wordplay with specific imagery, inviting the viewer to make individual, subjective correlations. According to Stackpole, if music is mathematical in basis (and it is) then art and science are also married.

Born in 1969, Sharon is a native West Virginian who studied painting and art history at Fairmont State and West Virginia University. After art school, she worked for some time as a newspaper reporter and columnist in West Virginia, and still maintains a daily blog. She is a strong supporter of arts in education and lobbies for the restoration of art instruction at the primary grade levels in West Virginia. When people claim they are untalented and unable to draw a straight line, Sharon says, “Good. There are enough straight lines in the world already. Go forth and be wonderfully wavy.”

The Purple Moon is located at 906 Quarrier Street.
